KALEIDOSCOPE TABLOIDS

Item Code: 100

SUMMARY FOR KALEIDOSCOPE TABLOIDS : KALEIDOSCOPE TABLOIDS from 1969 for MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN Now's your chance to own two (2) copies of Milwaukee's 1st Underground newspaper. THE KALEIDOSCOPE. It was a member of the Underground Press Syndicate (U.P.S) and the Liberation News Service (L.N.S.). Most people don't realize it but Milwaukee and the surrounding counties were in the forefront of the counter-culture revolution. Some of the best Underground cartoonists started here including in the underground newspaper “The Bugle American” and the WZMF Fallout. The first copy of KALEIDOSCOPE is from FEB. 28 – March 13 1969 Volume 2 # 8 - # 33 MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN. Articles contained within include: Postal Pot, UWM in trouble, the WZMF Radio Clock, and more. Ads for local businesses such as: O'BRADS on E. Locust, The SCENE on N. 2nd, Local classified ads, and more. Cartoons by Ron Cobb, Robert Crumb and Vaughn Bode' (all of underground comix fame). Vaughn Bode' has a full page ad for a subscription to Kaleidoscope in this issue. Concert ads: KINETIC PLAYGROUND in Chicago with groups like: B. B. King, Lumpy Gravy, Jeff Beck Group, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Richie Havens, Sweetwater, Brian Auger and the Trinity, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Van Morrison and more. The tabloid has 28 pages including the front and back covers. It includes the 1st and 2nd sections. There is no cover price on the cover. Tabloid has been folded. There are minor tears and rips. Front cover is loose but still attached. Some minor browning due to the age of the paper. All pages are intact. No writing anywhere on the tabloid. An excellent copy I would rate in Very Fine + condition, a solid (7.5). It is boarded and bagged. See the pictures for more detail. I have never seen a copy of this tabloid for sale before and I can imagine that they are pretty scarce considering how they were handled back then. Printed on paper not made to last this long. Read and passed along or just thrown out or used for other purposes. Less and less of these are still in existence and are disappearing everyday. Now is the time to own one of these tabloids before they are gone forever. The second copy of KALEIDOSCOP E is from AUGUST 8-21, 1969 Volume 2 # 18 - # 41 MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN. Articles contained within include: Summerfest's first festival, The Flying Indians of Acapulco (act at 1st Summerfest), centerfold of pictures of the 1st Summerfest, The Black Panthers, The White Panthers, Classified and unclassified ads, and more.
